On 23 September 2021, the African Development Bank, European Investment Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development hosted a video conference and debate where they presented their first report: “Private sector development in Morocco — challenges and opportunities in the COVID-19 era”.

This is the first joint analysis by three international financial institutions. The report addresses the challenges facing Moroccan companies during the ongoing health, economic and social crisis, as well as setting out the potential opportunities.

Representatives from the private sector, international institutions and the media attended the presentation video conference outlining the report's main conclusions.

Particular attention was paid to the opportunities of developing Moroccan exports to other African countries. The event was also an occasion to discuss the access to finance difficulties experienced by small and medium-sized enterprises in Morocco.

A high-level panel brought together figures from the private sector and representatives of the three development banks. Discussions focused on recommendations for speeding up private sector development to support strong, resilient and inclusive growth.
