The European Investment Bank Group (EIB Group) will open an office in Nicosia, bolstering its presence in Cyprus, and further expanding its network of external offices across the European Union. The opening was discussed during the meeting of EIB Group President Nadia Calviño and the Finance Minister of Cyprus, Makis Keravnos, on the margins of the EIB Board of Governors meeting in Luxembourg, on June 21.
The adoption of the Strategic Roadmap follows several months of intensive engagement between President Calviño and EU governments, key partners and stakeholders, including dedicated discussions during the ECOFIN meetings in February and April.
The European Investment Bank Group (EIB Group) will update its policies and framework for lending to the security and defence industry. This includes an update of the definition of dual-use goods and infrastructure, as well as support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups, and a commitment to accelerate the deployment of funds to strengthen Europe’s security and defence capabilities.
