The European Investment Bank is donating €250,000 to offer emergency relief amidst the ongoing human tragedy in Gaza. The donation will support food, medical supplies, and specialist medical teams for children and families in need in Gaza.
Partnerships to improve lives
The EIB donation will be channelled through Welthungerhilfe (WHH), a politically and religiously independent private aid agency. It will be used to deliver vital aid to malnourished children under-five, pregnant and lactating women and their families for two months, providing them with much-needed nutritional support, from baby formula and vitamins to high-energy food.
“The situation in the Middle East is an ongoing tragedy. We are all shocked by images from the region and want the fighting to end. EU governments have repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire that will finally put the region on a path of enduring peace. The EIB Group's donation aims to provide relief to the most vulnerable people in Gaza.”
Medical support through donations
Additionally, the donation will supply diapers and critical medical resources, including wound treatment supplies and essential medications. It will deploy three medical teams for three months comprising female health doctors, psychosocial workers and physiotherapists.
The EIB donation is aligned with Team Europe humanitarian assistance and the European Council’s call for “rapid, safe and unhindered access at scale for Palestinians in need.”
Through its collaboration with trusted NGOs, the EIB is able to provide much-needed aid and support to vulnerable communities. This donation also highlights the importance of humanitarian aid and international partnerships in addressing global crises and promoting peace and stability. The EIB remains dedicated to supporting initiatives that alleviate suffering and promote sustainable development worldwide.
