This CV is based on information provided to the EIB by the person concerned.Jean-Christophe Laloux is Director General, Head of Lending and Advisory Operations within the European Union and European Free Trade Association (EFTA), at the European Investment Bank (EIB).
Mr Laloux has held this position since 2014 (until 2021, he was also responsible for lending outside of the European Union). During his tenure, the EIB has delivered over €400 billion in new lending, and a number of major initiatives, including the European Fund for Strategic Investments, the Economic Resilience Initiative and the pan-European Guarantee Fund. He also led the frontline team of the Bank through a deep transformational journey, involving a shift towards greater risk-taking in individual operations and a significantly larger share of new and smaller counterparts. He has, amongst other things, promoted and scaled up the EIB’s operations in the fields of venture debt and thematic finance.
Prior to joining the Bank, he worked for six years as a management consultant for PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the Boston Consulting Group.
He holds a Commercial Engineering degree from the Catholic University of Leuven, a Post Graduate degree in Management (magna cum laude) from the University of Ghent, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (Distinction) from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, United States.
